THE CARABAO HORN SIGNATURE CHEF’S KNIFE
— the Maker, Sean Alonzo
In this rendition of the signature chef’s knife, I combined mulitple textures and materials to match the wear of a carabao’s horn.
The blade is made with 1084 and 15N20 high-carbon steels to create the flowing Damascus pattern which I jacketted over 52100 high-carbon steel for a reliable cutting edge. The spine is left raw with the blacksmith’s texture, known as kurouchi in Japanese
I also decided on an S-grind for this knife to reduce friction for a smoother cutting experience. A titanium bolster securing it to the handle made with carabao horn that has been shaped, polished, and accentuated with a mother of pearl inlay.
Crafted for those who appreciate both beauty and performance, I present the Carabao Horn Signature Chef’s Knife.
