Following the creation of the Ani 3.2 folding knife, I used the remaining half of the fossilized mammoth tooth ivory to craft a distinct iteration of the Curator 3.2.

While the ivory remains the same, I approached this knife with a different composition, selecting materials that complement the mineralized pattern in a new way.

The blade is made from CPM 154 high carbon stainless steel, polished to a mirror finish to enhance its profile. A false edge runs along the spine, adding visual flow to the silhouette. To frame the pivot system, I sculpted and polished a Double Black Micarta bolster that seamlessly envelops the mechanism.

The pivot assembly itself features a titanium pivot screw with a mammoth ivory pivot collar encircled by a blackened titanium collar on one side, and a mammoth ivory pivot inlay with a titanium pivot collar on the other.

The polished fossilized mammoth tooth ivory scales complement the Double Black Micarta bolster, with a matte blackened titanium pocket clip sculpted to match the curved transition between the two. To complete the composition, the thumb studs and backspacer are crafted entirely from blackened titanium, ensuring that every component of the knife flows together harmoniously.

This Curator 3.2 takes a different path from the Ani 3.2 while sharing the same core material, demonstrating how design choices and material selection can transform a knife’s characteristics and feel.
