A series of bespoke knives handcrafted in Bhutan, designed to demonstrate key techniques in steel forging, heat treatment, and detailed craftsmanship including rounded finger choils and spines. Every material used in this series was sourced exclusively within Bhutan.
51200 High Carbon Steel Gyuto with Yak Horn and Bhutanese Chalam Maple Handle, and Bhutanese Blue Pine Scabbard
I handcrafted this gyuto from high carbon steel, initially forged from a repurposed car bearing. With access to yak horn and local wood, I constructed the handle from a refined mix of Bhutanese Chalam maple and elegant yak horn accents. The polished yak horn accents reveal a translucent yellow, adding a touch of sophistication to the sharp design. The balance point, precisely positioned an inch past the finger choil, ensures excellent control.

Handle: Sculpted Bhutanese Chalam Maple, Yak Horn
The knife is paired with a Bhutanese blue pine scabbard, delicately engraved with the Eight Lucky Signs to complement its overall design. This knife represents a culmination of my experiences and memories in Bhutan.

1084 High Carbon Steel Cleaver with Yak Horn and Bhutanese Chalam Maple Handle, and Bhutanese Blue Pine Scabbard
I forged this cleaver from high carbon steel, using locally sourced steel to ensure it's both tough and sharp. The handle pairs Bhutanese chalam maple with yak horn accents, providing a sturdy and comfortable grip with an elegant silhoutte. I positioned the balance point two inches past the finger choil to enhance control and precision.
